As summer draws to a close, regrettably, our summer intern program is also concluding. Over the past few months, we had the pleasure of having two engineering interns join us at LEA, and they truly exemplified the qualities we value. Their display of self-discipline, diligent effort, a positive outlook, and above all hard-work.
Let’s dive in! 🦈
JOVELLE GARCES
LEA Intern Recap | Summer 2023
Conversation with Jovelle, Engineering Intern:
I would say working at LEA Professional has been an extraordinary experience for me. One of the projects I worked on was a discharge resistor that lights up if a capacitor still contains voltage in it. I was able to learn about how a product is made in the industry from the start to finish. Not only was I able to gain some knowledge of the audio industry, but I was also able to make some new friends along the way.
A restaurant I went to a lot, which is probably now my new favorite, is Cinco Five. Other than that, I would say I spent most of my weekends at the local Trader Joe’s because the closest one near my hometown isabout forty minutes away.

LEA Intern Recap | Summer 2023
Conversation with Brett, Engineering Intern:
During my internship, I worked on multiple interesting projects and explored the South Bend area. My main project was developing code to communicate and display information from Dante onto our webUI. This makes it easy to quickly verify important information like the current sample rate and device name straight from the webUI without having to go into Dante Controller. I also had the chance to help build and set up test equipment in order to catch problems before amplifiers leave our office.
Outside of work, I took the opportunity to explore South Bend, an area completely new to me. I eat copious amounts of sushi and I always try to find interesting places to eat when I’m in a new place. Sometimes a few people from the office would go out to Woochi, which was really nice. I also really loved Toyo Grill in Mishawaka and would definitely recommend checking it out. I visited University Park Mall with my girlfriend a couple of times and toured the Notre Dame campus as well. I’m sure there are a lot of things that I missed, but I enjoyed my time here and I’m grateful for this opportunity to work at LEA!
