introducing, Nathan Gambino, the dynamic force behind 5Day Productions LLC. As CEO, Nathan’s multifaceted expertise encompasses drumming, percussion, audio engineering, and AV system design and installation. This interview will uncover what makes his company stand out and why he trusts LEA for his installs. 😎
Tell us about your company and what makes you unique
[NG] 5 Day Productions LLC is an audio-visual installation company, focused on providing clients with high-performing audio-visual systems that are designed and integrated specifically with their exact needs in mind—no cookie-cutter systems here. We’re committed to our client’s unique visions and strive to provide a custom-tailored system that performs above expectations and blends seamlessly into the space, enhancing the audio-visual experience.
The name 5 Day Productions comes from our “production company” in high school. We would finish the production of videos in 5 days or less, regardless of how much time we had to finish the project. I’ve stuck with the name for over 10 years as an homage back to where it all started.
How did you get started in the industry?
[NG] I got my start as far back as my senior year of high school. I worked as an intern at Niagara Falls High School’s P.E.G. (Public, Education and Governmental Access Channel) television studio. I later went on to college to receive a certification in Audio Recording & Production at Niagara County Community College and started my company directly after. I’ve worked in almost every facet of the audio industry, whether FOH engineer, monitor engineer, stage manager, boom operator, audio mixer, etc.
What is your favorite part of a project?
[NG] I thoroughly enjoy the design process of an audio-visual system. I’ve been a gearhead throughout my career. Figuring out what gear will be needed and how to integrate a system into a project is an absolute blast. The challenge of bringing a client’s ideas into reality is an absolute thrill. I’m thankful to have such great relationships with my vendors and clients who I am thankful to call my friends.
What is the most challenging part of a project?
[NG] The most challenging part of a project is also my favorite—bringing my client’s vision to life.. Designing and integrating a system can be challenging for many reasons and every space is unique and comes with its own set of obstacles. Integrating a system never quite goes as planned during the design phase and to me, that’s part of the thrill of this trade.
What is your most frequently used tool during the installation process?
[NG] I find myself most frequently using not only the tools in my small tool pouch that I wear all day (electrician’s snips, screwdrivers, wire strippers, etc.) but also audio adapters when completing a system installation to test speakers and plug in various i/o peripherals. I usually play music from my phone, tablet, or laptop and need a variety of different, quality adapters. This is why I started another company, appropriately named Sound Adapters!
What are your go-to songs for system testing?
I’m fairly certain none of the songs I use for system testing are used by anyone else:
- Running with the Wolves – AURORA
- Bring Back The Sun – Our Lady Peace
- Cloud Funding – KARI BAND
- Into the Mirror – millet
- Swordland – Yuki Kajiura
- Turtle Town – Kevin Penkin
- Veilstone City (from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl) – insaneintherainmusic
- Rosalina in the Observatory (from “Super Mario Galaxy”) – The 8-Bit Big Band
How has your experience been working with lea?
[NG] I first came across LEA from one of my reps some years ago. I was excited about LEA’s back story, especially given how relatable it is. More importantly, they had stock when no other companies in the industry did, back when the supply chain crisis was at its worst.
On top of that, the ease of functionality, sleek look, compact form factor, and most of all, the powerful DSP allows me the precision of system tuning that I’m looking for. One of my favorite features of LEA products is the cloud platform, which allows me to quickly monitor systems, diagnose problems, and even fix them remotely if anything were to pop up.
Conclusion
We’d like to thank Nathan and 5Day Productions for taking the time to speak with us and entrusting us to help get the job done
