Conversation with Ashlee Hoogenboom:
What’s your current position at LEA?
[AH] Digital Marketing Specialist. I will primarily support our social media strategies and website needs. I look forward to helping more people find and learn about LEA and all the amazing technology and products they bring to the industry.
What is your background, and what brings you to LEA Pro?
[AH] My career is firmly in the digital marketing and communications space. Most recently I am coming from nearly a decade in the higher education field. I came to LEA as I was looking to expand my experience in different industries, see what digital marketing looks like elsewhere.
What excites you most about working in audio technology?
[AH] I love music. You can often catch me humming to myself or singing along to whatever is playing in the background, even if it’s not my preferred genre. I like loud music, with bass that vibrates through my bones, so it’s fascinating to get to work behind the scenes and see what goes into creating the music experiences I encounter throughout daily life. Whether that’s at home, in a movie theater, at the grocery store or at an event.
What are your personal hobbies?
[AH] I am a hobby collector, I love to try new things and learn new skills. You never know what new interest I’ll pop up with next. In between new hobbies, I can be found curled up in a corner devouring a book, in the kitchen experimenting with recipes to test out on my family, barefoot in the garden trying to convince my plants to grow or watching a movie or show while I fold the never-ending laundry. I also enjoy traveling – wandering around new places, learning history, experiencing new cultures – I’m a bit of an explorer at heart, I guess.
In your opinion, what makes audio such a powerful or important part of the experience?
[AH] Audio experiences are deeply woven into our lives and our history. We rely heavily on our auditory abilities as a primary sense and method of communication. From ancient humans maintaining oral histories to modern music and poetry, sound continues to be one of the primary modes for how we express our human experience – telling stories, sharing ideas, conveying feelings and building connections. In these ways audio is extremely important.
What is LEA’s biggest differentiator?
[AH] The people-centered focus. Their clear commitment to improving the experiences of everyone involved, from integrators to end users, seems to drive both innovation and exceptional customer service. It’s not just about being the best in the industry, but about being the best for people. It also creates an incredibly supportive work environment.
