LEA Senior Technical Support Specialist – Kevin Gring: LEA Team Spotlight

As our amplifiers are getting into the hands of more and more integrators, it is important to us to be able to support them whenever they have technical questions or difficulties programming their systems.

We’ve heard too many horror stories about customers calling tech support lines for other companies, only to be halted by automated systems or even ignored completely.

So, we knew that in order to continue to provide the level of quality support that we aim to deliver, we needed to hire a technical support expert.

That’s where Kevin comes in…

A Conversation with Kevin Gring, LEA Senior Technical Support Specialist

What’s your current position at LEA?

[KG] Sr. Technical Support Specialist. My job is to help people from specifications to set-up and troubleshooting to basic audio questions.

What drew you into your specific field of work?

[KG] I am a musician who ended up on the other side of the stage. When I was young, my father was an incredible pianist who became a salesman for Gibson guitars and I grew up in the audio industry. He worked for Gibson, EV, Leblanc, Crown, and Ashly among others. Working in the Audio Industry I have met some extremely talented musicians, Engineers, and Designers and I now am lucky enough to get to work with some of them.

Tell us about your background.

[KG] As a young guitar player I used to tinker with and repair my own equipment. I eventually learned formally what I had been repairing for years. I spent nine years repairing amplifiers and electronics at Crown Audio and then moved to the support side of things where I spent twenty years helping people repair, design, and set up their own equipment.

How has your background prepared you to help LEA be successful?

[KG] Being originally self-taught, it made it easier for me to relate to people on all levels when working with them. We have all talked to that one support person on the phone who acted superior and talked down to us. It is my goal to always talk to everyone with the same respect that I would expect to receive.

What do you like about audio technology?

[KG] For me it is about the music. In order to truly experience what an artist has created the quality of the audio should be at its best.

What is the most exciting thing about joining LEA?

[KG] Getting to work with some old friends and new people who are the best at what they do.

What are your personal hobbies?

[KG] I will always be a musician so playing the guitar and helping raise my Eagle Scout son.

Do you have any personal “tech projects” that you have worked on in the past or are currently working on?

[KG] There is always something in the house that needs networked or audio set up. I also get to teach my son and other Boy Scouts electronics.

What makes audio or audio tech so important in your opinion?

[KG] Whether it be speaking or music we must be able to hear and understand and while I can’t make you listen I can sure help get the message to you clearly and loudly!
