LEA Summer Camp

Join us for a deep dive into LEA Summer Camp 2024! Our internship program shines with impactful projects that go beyond routine tasks. This summer, our interns tackled meaningful assignments that made a real difference to our engineering team. Curious about their experience? Hear directly from our interns about their summer at LEA! 🦈

LEA Summer Camp Projects

Sophie Keys, Hardware Engineering Intern

As part of my internship, I managed the integration of the power supply into an amplifier, which involved handling both the hardware connections and redesigning the board layout. This project enabled me to explore and implement various solutions, which resulted in the supply being more efficient and optimized.

Cullen Bradley, Firmware Engineering Intern

I developed firmware for a modified amplifier board while upgrading the existing codebase from C to C++. This challenging project enhanced my skills in embedded systems development, object-oriented and procedural programming, and teamwork on a large-scale project.

Zeke Wachtman, Hardware Engineering Intern

I worked on designing a new simulator board, which will be used by both firmware and hardware engineers for testing. This new method reduces the risk of damaging amplifiers, making it a safer and more cost-effective alternative to our current testing procedures for ARCs and firmware.

A Word From LEA

“LEA desires a win-win situation regarding our internship program.  We strive to challenge the students with real-world problem solving, helping them gain experience and knowledge while providing a meaningful return to LEA.  Intern projects are designed to be difficult and put the student outside the classroom setting forcing them to seek guidance, commit to self-learning, and communicate well.  Projects include hardware design and firmware development that will be used in future LEA products.  Our students leave LEA with the feeling of accomplishment knowing that their hard work will surface as future LEA revenue.” -Jeremy Bules, VP of Engineering

As our 2024 summer internships end, we want to give a huge shoutout to all our amazing interns. You’ve all brought so much energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to the table, and it’s been awesome seeing you grow and contribute over the past few months. We’re excited to see where your talents take you next and wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
