Conversation with Jeff Gorton:

What’s your current position at LEA?

[JG] Sales Director, EMEA

What is your background, and what brings you to LEA Pro?

[JG] My father started an AV integration business from my bedroom when I was 9. I fell in love with audio while commissioning a lecture theater at Oxford University. Playing Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall, I cranked up the volume, and every worker on-site stopped to listen. That’s when I knew AV was for me. LEA is the pinnacle of amplifier technology so that makes LEA the perfect place for me to work.

What do you like about audio technology?

[JG] I associate good sound with happiness. Whether it’s a soundbar at home for family movie night, live music at a concert, dancing at a bar or club, or catching the latest Marvel film at an immersive cinema. These are all spaces where people go to enjoy themselves, and great audio technology is at the heart of it.

What are your personal hobbies?

[JG] I’m a sailor and part of an 11-person racing crew. I’ve competed in major events, including the Rolex Fastnet, sailing from England, across the Irish Sea, and around Fastnet Rock. Before my three kids came along, I was a keen golfer with a 15 handicap. Now, I only manage to sneak away a few times a year, so let’s just say my golf game is more “lost ball” than “birdy” these days!

What makes audio or audio tech so important in your opinion?

[JG] Sound is one of our core senses and a fundamental way we connect with the world. It has the power to shape our emotions, whether it’s the spine-chilling soundtrack of a horror movie (just try watching without the sound!) or the collective surge of pride when a national anthem plays in a packed stadium. But beyond communication, audio creates powerful moments that stay with us, stirring emotions and contributing to lasting memories.

What is LEA’s biggest differentiator?

[JG] Without a doubt, our technology [is the biggest differentiator]. Plus, our people—the heart and soul of LEA—with over 200 years of combined experience and a deep-seated passion to develop products and solutions specifically for audio system integrators. From the customer’ perspective, every interaction with LEA is intentionally simple. The mission is also simple—equip system integrators and installers with the tools, technologies, and support they need to thrive. This is why LEA stands out from the crowd.
