A Conversation with Trent Jones, Electrical Design Engineer
What’s your current position at LEA?
What drew you into your specific field of work?
[TJ] I got a degree in electrical engineering because I like math and wanted plenty of job options after college. I got into the audio industry because LEA has fun and exciting projects… and people!
What do you like about audio technology?
[TJ] I hope to do more signal processing in the future because the math behind it is like wizardry. Audio signals are so complex that any engineering mistake is apparent in the sound.
What are your personal hobbies?
[TJ] I did a lot of theater and film acting when I was younger, so I still love everything musical. My favorite thing to do is improvise on the piano using borrowed chord progressions from Elton John.
Do you have any personal “tech projects” that you have worked on in the past or are currently working on?
[TJ] I was working on a water level monitor for the freshwater tank in my dad’s RV, but it turns out the tank is inaccessible, so I scrapped that project.
What makes audio or audio tech so important in your opinion?
[TJ] Music seems to be a universal human need. I was raised in Nashville where there is live music in every bar and restaurant. I hope our amplifiers can bring sound to customers so they not only hear the music, they feel it.
