You’ve probably heard the name and have probably seen the logo from time to time. After all, Dante is everywhere in the Pro AV industry. Dante is the number one audio transport to network hardware and systems together. This technology provides high-quality audio routing and monitoring. Since being developed in 2006, it has become an industry standard for networking systems. So, why would you want a Dante amplifier?
To begin with, let’s start by digging into what Dante actually is…
Definition:
Dante is a hardware and software solution that transports precisely timed digital audio between devices using standard IP Networking.
It is an audio networking solution created by the Australian company, Audinate. Its core purpose is to transport the highest quality audio possible between networked Dante-enabled hardware devices.
THE BENEFITS OF DANTE
- First, Dante uses human-readable names (as opposed to binary code zeros and ones).
- Consequently, anyone can quickly and easily identify devices and channels without having to decode numerical names.
- Next, it provides precise time alignment of audio.
- 1ms or less audio synchronization to be precise.
- In addition, Dante provides Auto device discovery.
- Therefore, there is no need to configure anything. To begin, just plug in your device and it will get discovered automatically.
- Next, Dante uses one-click routing.
- In brief, you can quickly and easily route audio signals wherever you want.
- Dante also has low,100% deterministic latency.
- This virtually eliminates latency issues.
- It’s Jitter free!
- There’s an auto-reconnect function after power cycle.
- Dante uses Gigabit ethernet.
- Thereby allowing hundreds to thousands of overall channels to be used.
- Finally, it provides automatic clock syncing.
THE BENEFITS OF DANTE AMPLIFIERS
True digital signal end to end
The networked nature of Dante allows the audio system to run on standard networking hardware. Therefore, costs are reduced for the system integrator. Additionally, it provides low latency and noise immunity for the audio signals. Moreover, Dante is designed for sub 1ms latency. As a result, latency is a non-issue. In addition, noise immunity is provided by digital transport. ,This allows system installers to transport audio over long distances without worrying about noise pickup in the cables.
Reduces costs
Without Dante built-in, system integrators need to purchase additional gear to convert the analog signal into a Dante signal. Therefore, additional costs are added to the entire system installation. Not to mention, the extra gear unnecessarily complicates the system.
Digital signal configuration
With a Dante-capable system, Audinate has made it simple to perform channel configurations. For example, their free software, Dante Controller is a one-click solution that gives you the ability to digitally route audio signals through your system.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, there are currently over 2,000 Dante-enabled products representing 241 brands in the pro AV market. Needless to say, those numbers will continue to grow as a result of Audinate releasing new software and technology into the industry. With so many systems around the world built on Dante networks, it is especially important to ensure that new products can be seamlessly integrated. Thus, we created an entire family of Dante amplifiers within our CONNECTSERIES, completely dedicated to Dante integration.

Thanks for sharing the amazing post. We also sell products like this, please review our website.
I’m an amateur volunteer at a local church and I find that the Dante signal going into our headphone monitoring system (LiveMix) seems pretty low. I need to boost the volume quite a bit in the monitoring system in order to get proper signal through headphones/in-ears. Is there a way to boost the Dante signal before going into the LiveMix system? Is that what a digital amp with built-in Dante can do for me?
Hi Jack! Thanks for reaching out.
The only way to boost the signal is before it is converted to a Dante signal. There are no gain controls inside of Dante Controller. Boosting Dante signal is not what a digital amplifier with built-in Dante is for. Amps like this, including the Connect Series Dante, are for powering loudspeakers and utilize Dante for input source signal.
Let us know if you have any further questions and we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
Hey Jack!
Luke here with Digital Audio Labs and Livemix. LEA Professional is totally right. The only way to boost the signal is with your preamp gain control on your mixing console. Feel free to reach out to us at Support@DigitalAudio.com if you need any help setting this up!
Thanks!
