Electronics Service Technician – Francisco Ortiz

What’s your current position at LEA?

What drew you into your specific field of work?

[FO] I have always enjoyed taking things apart and trying to figure out how they work, so after I graduated high school, I joined the Marine Corps where I served as a Communications Electronics Maintenance Technician. I really enjoyed troubleshooting and repairing equipment, so I wanted to continue in a similar field of work after completing my contract. 

What do you like about audio technology?

[FO] I like how the technology is constantly evolving and new inventions are coming about, things like wireless headphones, such as my AirPods, which I use on a daily basis. 

What are your personal hobbies?

[FO] I like to play video games, pet my cat, drive my car, and ride my motorcycle if the weather permits. 

Do you have any personal “tech projects” that you Are Currently Working On or Would like to begin?

[FO] I don’t currently have any personal projects going on. 

What makes audio or audio tech so important in your opinion?

[FO] I think audio tech is so important because there are many things we couldn’t do without it. For example, listening to our favorite music, radio, or even talking on the phone would not be possible if there had not been advancements in audio tech.
