LEA Summer Camp 2023: Engineering Intern Jovelle Garces

What’s your current position at LEA?

What is your background, and what brings you to lEA pro?

[JG] I am an upcoming senior studying Electrical Engineering at Purdue University. I talked with LEA Professional at one of the career fairs at my school. I have always had a passion for audio engineering, so I was naturally drawn to this company.

What do you like about audio technology?

[JG] I find the audio manipulation part very interesting, like turning a sound into something completely different with the use of technology. 

What are your personal hobbies?

[JG] I enjoy playing videogames with my friends such as Valorant or Overwatch. In my free time, I like to learn dances and sometimes choreograph on my own. 

Do you have any personal “tech projects” that you have worked on in the past or are currently working on?

[JG] I had a project where I took an audio sample and convolved it with different impulse signals to see the effects of each one. 

What makes audio or audio tech so important in your opinion?

[JG] Growing up, music has always been a major part of my life. I learned various instruments, was in marching and concert band, and have danced on stages for crowds. There are many small intricate things that have to be adjusted in order to produce a great performance, and with the help of audio tech, that can be achieved.
